Dear Producer is excited to launch its first annual Producers Sustainability Survey!
What is the current state of film producing in the U.S.? In this survey, we explore who producers are, compensation, barriers to entry, challenges, benefits, and more. Ultimately, we are seeking to answer: As it exists, is being a film producer in the U.S. a sustainable career?
Why this Survey
Dear Producer is hoping to get a snapshot of what life is like for feature-length film producers working in both the fiction and documentary space. The goal is to gather data to benchmark the state of independent film producing in the U.S. and to use this data to advocate for better working conditions for producers.
Who Should Complete the Survey
This survey is designed for fiction and documentary producers who reside in the U.S. and who have received the “Producer” or “Produced By” credit on at least one feature-length film that was commercially distributed (available to rent or purchase by the general public, whether through theatrical, video-on-demand, or streaming) within the last 10 years.
In an effort to collect as much data as possible, please share this survey with other producers and encourage them to contribute.
The survey takes an average of 15-20 minutes to complete.
Answers are Anonymous
Your answers are anonymous. Please be as honest as possible — the better we can understand the evolving needs of producers the stronger we can be in advancing our community.
The survey will close on December 16, 2020.
